Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Columbia Basin Herald ) -- 05/20/2025 Moses Lake BMX had a busy weekend, with two days of action-packed bike competition. The two -day affair saw over 400 riders each day of competition, according to Moses Lake BMX Track Operator Jeff Niehenke. The event went incredibly well. we have a huge group of volunteers that really executed well, even despite the huge rain delay. Everything ran smoothly, and we ran a very quick event, which is hard to do with that many riders and the logistics involved, Niehenke said. * Caught On Video: Thieves Hit Smith Rock BMX Nonprofit Steal Gear And Damage Property. Redmond, Oregon USA ( Central Oregon Daily ) -- 05/13/2025 Smith Rock BMX, a nonprofit for kids involved in BMX racing in Redmond, is trying to find whoever broke into their facilities Tuesday morning, stealing merchandise and doing hundreds of dollars in damage. The thefts were caught on security cameras. The nonprofit says intruders were at the track at the High Desert Sports Complex between 12:20 and 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. The complex is off Maple Avenue, just east of Redmond and near the Negus Transfer Station. * REI Yearly Net Sales Dip 6%, But New CEO Still Optimistic. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 05/09/2025 REI Co-op net sales for 2024 declined 6.2% year-over-year with new CEO Mary Beth Laughton acknowledging a challenging marketplace and yet I remain hopeful. Net sales for the year were reported at $3.53 billion, compared with $3.76 billion in 2023. Net loss for the year was $156.4 million, compared with $214.6 million in 2023. REI said the loss primarily occurred because of giving back to members in the form of member rewards, to society in the form of giving, and to employees in the form of performance incentives and retirement contributions. |

When I joined the company in 1972, we had six employees, including both my parents and myself, former Kent International CEO Arnold Kamler said. And as of a few months ago we had over 200 employees. Arnold took over Kent International from his father. Now his son, Scott Kamler, is CEO. They sell about two million bikes per year in the U.S. and theyre one of Walmarts biggest suppliers. But President Trumps plan for tariffs is throwing a wrench into their American dream. About 90% of Kent bikes are imported from China. New York, NY USA - The Associated Press (AP) -- 05/17/2025 President Donald Trump on Saturday ripped into Walmart, saying on social media that the retail giant should eat the additional costs created by his tariffs. As Trump has jacked up import taxes, he has tried to assure a skeptical public that foreign producers would pay for those taxes and that retailers and automakers would absorb the additional expenses. Most economic analyses are deeply skeptical of those claims and have warned that the trade penalties would worsen inflation.
