* Caught On Video: Thieves Hit Smith Rock BMX Nonprofit Steal Gear And Damage Property.
Redmond, Oregon USA ( Central Oregon Daily ) -- 05/13/2025
Smith Rock BMX, a nonprofit for kids involved in BMX racing in Redmond, is trying to find
whoever broke into their facilities Tuesday morning, stealing merchandise and doing hundreds
of dollars in damage. The thefts were caught on security cameras. The nonprofit says intruders
were at the track at the High Desert Sports Complex between 12:20 and 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. The
complex is off Maple Avenue, just east of Redmond and near the Negus Transfer Station.

* REI Yearly Net Sales Dip 6%, But New CEO Still Optimistic.
Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 05/09/2025
REI Co-op net sales for 2024 declined 6.2% year-over-year with new CEO Mary Beth Laughton
acknowledging a challenging marketplace and yet I remain hopeful. Net sales for the year were
reported at $3.53 billion, compared with $3.76 billion in 2023. Net loss for the year was $156.4
million, compared with $214.6 million in 2023. REI said the loss primarily occurred because of
giving back to members in the form of member rewards, to society in the form of giving, and to
employees in the form of performance incentives and retirement contributions.

* Tariffs Force U.S. Bicycle Company To Halt Imports From China.

The Kamler family, owner of Fairfield, New Jersey-based * Kent International, has been in the bicycle
business for four generations. When I joined the company in 1972, we had six employees, including both
my parents and myself, former Kent International CEO Arnold Kamler said. And as of a few months
ago we had over 200 employees. Arnold took over Kent International from his father. Now his son, Scott
Kamler, is CEO. They sell about two million bikes per year in the U.S. and theyre one of Walmarts biggest
suppliers. But President Trumps plan for tariffs is throwing a wrench into their American dream. About
90% of Kent bikes are imported from China. The rest are assembled in the U.S. at their factory in South

The Northwests Premier 5-Day Stage Race! May 02nd-06th, 2025 Wenatchee, Washington USA
The Tour de Bloom is a five-day USA Cycling-certified stage race being held during Wenatchees
famous Apple Blossom Festival every Spring. This fast-paced cycling event that attracts local
as well as international competitors is organized by the Wenatchee Valley Velo Club featuring
a road race in Plain and Waterville; a Merckx - Style Time Trial at the Palisades; and Twilight
Criterium in the streets of Wenatchee; and Hill Climb to Mission Ridge. Action starts on Friday,

Tulsa, Oklahoma USA ( USA Cycling + USA BMX ) -- 04/15/2025
USA BMX and USA Cycling are excited to announce that the USA BMX Headquarters in Tulsa, Okla. will
become the official home base of the USA Cycling BMX Racing National Team. This partnership marks a
united effort to identify, develop, support the next generation of BMX athletes, while expanding opportunities
for riders to train and compete at a world-class facility. USA BMX opening the doors of its Tulsa headquarters
to USA Cyclings BMX Racing National Team and development athletes for year- round access to world-class
training on the track and in the gym. This partnership isnt just about the athletes, its about the coaches, too.
USA Cycling will work with USA BMX and the USA BMX Foundation to develop coaching programs, helping
coaches gain the experience and knowledge they need to guide riders through every stage of their careers.

The 2025 Spokane Bike Swap is returning for another year. Hundreds of new and used bikes,
along with over 40 exhibitors, will be at this years * Spokane Bike Swap. Also, the famous bike
corral features almost 1,000 bicycles which are for sale, including kids, racing, road, mountain,
commuter, recumbent, BMX, tandems, cruisers, tri-bikes, trailer bikes, buggies and more.

* BMX Ramping Up For Spring Fun In Moses Lake.

Now that Spring is here, outdoor activities are ramping up, including BMX leagues.
On April 4 and 5, Moses Lake BMX will hold multiple events for children and beginners.
This comes after new changes were made to the organizations offerings. They are starting
two new leagues, one for beginners, at their open house this Saturday. New riders can
come out, check out the track, learn about our new program.

REI announced Thursday that its retail store will be offering mountain bikes from Rocky Mountain
and road and gravel bikes from Van Rysel this year. The co-op retailer also is adding womens cycling
apparel from Peppermint Cycling, bags and accessories from Swift Industries, and apparel for cycling
and other outdoor sports from Stio.

Port Angeles sixth-grader Teyah Elofson-Cross is the latest BMX star to come from the Lincoln Park
BMX track. In Houston this past weekend, she competed in the Lone Star National, a UCI world qualifier
event. In the world qualifier Friday, she finished first in the 13 girl challenge class and second in the 13-16
girl cruiser class to secure a spot for both bikes to the UCI BMX Worlds in Copenhagen in July, along with
four other riders from the Lincoln Park BMX.

This past weekend, members of the Lincoln Park BMX traveled to Tulsa, Okla., for the track
operator summit and Lincoln Park received an award for being the No. 8 track out of 115 tracks
on the West Coast.

* REI Agrees To Sale Leaseback With Madison Capital For $230 Million.
Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 02/25/2025
REI Co-op accepted a long-term sale-leaseback agreement with Madison Capital for its four
distribution center properties. REI said it will maintain and operate the centers without impacting
any of its employees. A New York based real estate investment firm, Madison Capital paid $230
million for the buildings and land associated with the distribution centers located in Sumner, Wash;
Bedford, Pennsylvania; Goodyear, Arizona; and Lebanon, Tennessee. REI said it will continue to
own all equipment and machinery inside each facility.

* BMX: Lincoln Park Riders Shine In Florida.

This past weekend, three Lincoln Park BMX riders shined in the Okeeheelee BMX
in West Palm Beach, Fla., to race in the UCI Qualifier and Sunshine State National.
Their qualification means that they will be able to ride and present Team USA in
Copenhagen, Denmark, in July later this year.

* REI Announces A Change At The Top.

REI Co-op CEO and President Eric Artz announced Wednesday morning that he will retire at
the end of March and will be succeeded by former co-op board director Mary Beth Laughton.

* REI Cutting Experiences Division Resulting In The Loss Of 428 Jobs.

REI Co-op announced it will close its Experiences division that includes adventure travel, day
tours, and classes. The decision was announced in an email to employees Wednesday from the
President and CEO Eric Artz and will mean the elimination of 428 full- and part-time jobs in that
division. Customers who booked trips and day programs will receive full refunds and REI will
work to address any associated non-refundable expenses.
