Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Columbia Basin Herald ) -- 07/10/2025 Alli Kay Tatum started riding dirt bikes in 2021 when she was 12 years old. Four years later, she is going the UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was just surreal, it finally happened. I never thought it would happen, but I was just really excited, she said. In January, she qualified for the championships at a race in Florida. * 46th Seattle To Portland Bicycle Classic Returns With Biggest Ridership Since 2019. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 07/09/2025 The Pacific Northwests largest big group bike ride, the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic presented by Alaska Airlines and Zenni Optical, returns for the 46th time on July 12-13 with the largest number of participants since 2019. Cascade Bicycle Club anticipates that 6,000+ people will ride the 46th edition of the 206-mile ride known as STP, which most people complete two days with a campout in middle and about 10 percent ride in one. * Seattle to Portland Info. |

* Buckleys McKee Siblings Dominate BMX Tracks, World Rankings. Buckley, Washington USA ( King 5 News ) -- 06/30/2025 Traxten McKee is the top-ranked 10-year-old in Washington. His sister, Tenisyn, is No. 1 in the world. Two weeks ago, Traxten McKee crashed at a race in Canada and dislocated his shoulder. This past weekend, he was back on the track. The McKee siblings took home first- place finishes at races in Walla Walla and Richland. Also see * YouTube King 5 News Video. * Moses Lake BMX Holds Race For Life Event. Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Columbia Basin Herald ) -- 06/16/2025 Last weekend, Moses Lake BMX participated in the Race for Life Double competition that was held across Eastern Washington. Track Operator Jeff Niehenke said he was pleased with how the weekend went for his riders. The event was held across four tracks over the weekend, starting with Moses Lake BMX on Friday. On Saturday morning, BMX riders raced in Walla Walla before heading to Tri-Cities in the afternoon. The event finished in Spokane on Sunday. * Waterville 1st-Grader Races To 1st Place In BMX Gold Cup Qualifier. ( * Archived. ) Waterville, Washington USA ( Empire Press ) -- 06/16/2025 Torin Higginbotham, 6, is speeding into summer with a first-place finish in the USA BMX Gold Cup Qualifier series on May 18 in Moses Lake. Racing in the Novice 6 division, Torin earned top honors on what he and his family consider their home track. The win puts him in strong contention for a Gold Cup Plate, awarded to the top three riders in the region at end of series. |

 * Bi-Partisan Lawmakers Introduce Bill That Would Boost US Assembly And Manufacturing. Washington DC USA ( BRAIN ) -- 06/11/2025 Legislation introduced in Congress this week would eliminate tariffs on components used to assemble complete bikes in the U.S., long a major concerns of bike brands looking to add value in the U.S. without making the full step toward frame manufacturing. * Moses Lake BMX Hosts Gold Cup Qualifier Tournament. Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Columbia Basin Herald ) -- 05/20/2025 Moses Lake BMX had a busy weekend, with two days of action-packed bike competition. The two -day affair saw over 400 riders each day of competition, according to Moses Lake BMX Track Operator Jeff Niehenke. The event went incredibly well. we have a huge group of volunteers that really executed well, even despite the huge rain delay. Everything ran smoothly, and we ran a very quick event, which is hard to do with that many riders and the logistics involved, Niehenke said. * Caught On Video: Thieves Hit Smith Rock BMX Nonprofit Steal Gear And Damage Property. Redmond, Oregon USA ( Central Oregon Daily ) -- 05/13/2025 Smith Rock BMX, a nonprofit for kids involved in BMX racing in Redmond, is trying to find whoever broke into their facilities Tuesday morning, stealing merchandise and doing hundreds of dollars in damage. The thefts were caught on security cameras. The nonprofit says intruders were at the track at the High Desert Sports Complex between 12:20 and 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. The complex is off Maple Avenue, just east of Redmond and near the Negus Transfer Station. * REI Yearly Net Sales Dip 6%, But New CEO Still Optimistic. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 05/09/2025 REI Co-op net sales for 2024 declined 6.2% year-over-year with new CEO Mary Beth Laughton acknowledging a challenging marketplace and yet I remain hopeful. Net sales for the year were reported at $3.53 billion, compared with $3.76 billion in 2023. Net loss for the year was $156.4 million, compared with $214.6 million in 2023. REI said the loss primarily occurred because of giving back to members in the form of member rewards, to society in the form of giving, and to employees in the form of performance incentives and retirement contributions. |

Fairfield Township, New Jersey USA ( CBS News ) -- 05/07/2025 The Kamler family, owner of Fairfield, New Jersey-based * Kent International, has been in the bicycle business for four generations. When I joined the company in 1972, we had six employees, including both my parents and myself, former Kent International CEO Arnold Kamler said. And as of a few months ago we had over 200 employees. Arnold took over Kent International from his father. Now his son, Scott Kamler, is CEO. They sell about two million bikes per year in the U.S. and theyre one of Walmarts biggest suppliers. But President Trumps plan for tariffs is throwing a wrench into their American dream. About 90% of Kent bikes are imported from China. New York, NY USA - The Associated Press (AP) -- 05/17/2025 President Donald Trump on Saturday ripped into Walmart, saying on social media that the retail giant should eat the additional costs created by his tariffs. As Trump has jacked up import taxes, he has tried to assure a skeptical public that foreign producers would pay for those taxes and that retailers and automakers would absorb the additional expenses. Most economic analyses are deeply skeptical of those claims and have warned that the trade penalties would worsen inflation.
