Wenatchee, Washington USA ( KPQ News ) -- 10/01/2026 Anyone whos watched an e-bike blow past at highway speed on a neighborhood street has probably wondered the same thing: Is that actually legal? Washington lawmakers wondered too, and this summer they acted. ESSB 6110 took effect June 11th, 2026, drawing a much sharper line between what counts as a real e-bike and whats really an electric motorcycle in bicycle disguise. The problem had been building for a while. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 08/13/2026 Specialized and a Washington man who said he was injured due to an alleged flaw in a Specialized e-MTB have told a judge theyve reached a settlement. The move comes about two months after the plaintiff asked the court to enforce a settlement agreement that Specialized said was not final. The court declined to enforce that agreement. Both sides submitted a request to the court this week to dismiss the case. * 14-Year-Old On Electric Scooter Struck By Vehicle And Injured In Moses Lake. Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Source ONE News ) -- 08/11/2026 A 14-year-old Moses Lake boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter on Sunday, Aug. 9. The collision was reported at about 7:18 p.m. at the intersection of West Gary Street and North Buell Street. According to information from the traffic accident report, the teen was thrown from the electric scooter during the collision. |

* Eastern Washington BMX Tracks Team Up For Race For Life Fundraiser. Moses Lake, Washington USA ( Columbia Basin Herald ) -- 07/24/2026 Moses Lake BMX will be participating in the Race for Life fundraiser the first weekend of August. A nationwide event, Eastern Washington BMX entities are adapting it into a four-track series across Walla Walla, Columbia Basin, Spokane and Moses Lake, President of Moses Lake BMX Jeff Niehenke said. Moses Lake will host their race on Aug. 2 and will be the final day of the Eastern Washington Race for Life series. Spokane will host on Friday, then Walla Walla Saturday morning and Columbia Basin that evening. * Eugene Racing Track Issues E-Bikes And Motorized Vehicle Prohibition Reminder. Eugene, Oregon USA ( KEZI ) -- 07/13/2026 Emerald Valley BMX in Eugene recently issued a reminder regarding the prohibition of motorized and electric vehicles at their racing track. The facility posted a warning on their Facebook page saying e-bikes, electric motorcycles, pit bikes, remote control vehicles and any other motorized vehicles are not allowed on the track or riding surface. The Bedfords said they plan to build on UBIs foundation in Ashland, maintaining its programs, faculty, and student focused approach while exploring opportunities to grow enrollment and industry partnerships. * 9-Year-Old Central Oregon BMX Racer Qualifies For Worlds. Bend, Oregon USA ( Central Oregon Daily ) -- 07/07/2026 A nine-year-old BMX racer from Central Oregon is preparing to compete against some of the best young riders in the world after earning a spot on Team USA. Neiko Farris qualified for the UCI BMX World Championships after finishing sixth at a qualifier in Houston. He is one of eight riders in his age group selected for the national team. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN ) -- 07/07/2026 A suit filed by Amazon and UL against five e-bike and e-scooter companies for allegedly falsely claiming their e-bikes and scooters were UL-certified has ended in a court order barring the companies from doing it anymore. U.S. District Judge Jamal N. Whitehead of the U.S. District Court for Western Washington in Seattle signed a consent judgment and permanent injunction on Monday. |

Richland, Washington USA ( Apple Valley News ) -- 05/26/2026 Columbia Basin BMX faces thousands of dollars in repair costs after thieves broke in to its concessions building during Memorial Day weekend, the latest incident in a string attacks targeting the facility. The break-in resulted in $5,000 worth of damage to shutters, windows, lights and equipment at the track's concessions area. Thieves also made off with various food items and $2,500 in cash. Boise, Idaho USA ( BRAIN ) -- 05/11/2026 Mountain Bike and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Mert Lawwill, an innovator of modern bicycle suspension design with the four-bar system, passed away recently. He was 85. Lawwill appeared in the 1971 Oscar-nominated motorcycle documentary On Any Sunday. Lawwill helped develop one of the first production mountain bikes, the Pro Cruiser, in 1977. His four-bar suspension design was adopted by leading brands including Yeti Cycles and Schwinn. Lawwill also developed the Leader, a link suspension bicycle fork. * REI Net Sales Slightly Increase In 2025 Union Representing 11 Stores.
