The Richland Police Department is making progress investigating break-ins at
two neighboring sports complexes, and put one person of interest in the case on
an investigative hold as part of their investigation. In May, a group of thieves
broke into buildings at Columbia Basin BMX.

The judge in a product liability case over a Specialized e-MTBs alleged over-run
refused to enforce a proposed $175,000 settlement, which fell apart when Specialized
demanded the return of the bike.

* Columbia Basin BMX Track Recovers From Memorial Day Weekend Break-In.
Richland, Washington USA ( Apple Valley News ) -- 05/26/2026
Columbia Basin BMX faces thousands of dollars in repair costs after thieves broke in
to its concessions building during Memorial Day weekend, the latest incident in a string
attacks targeting the facility. The break-in resulted in $5,000 worth of damage to shutters,
windows, lights and equipment at the track's concessions area. Thieves also made off with

* Portlands Firsthand Framebuilding Buys Paragon Machine Works.

Firsthand Framebuilding, a Portland framebuilding supply and education company,
has purchased the assets of Paragon Machine Works. Firsthand is buying the Paragon
brand name, trademarks, designs, tooling, and remaining inventory, Firsthand founder
Chris Blandford told BRAIN this week. Paragon has long supplied framebuilders with
a wide variety of parts, from cable guides to dropouts, brake bridges and more.

* Joe Albi BMX Track Rebuild Starts As Pit Closes For Five Days.
Spokane, Washington USA ( KHQ 6 News ) -- 05/15/2026
The BMX track at Joe Albi Stadium is set for a rebuild starting Friday night,
with the pit closing as crews began work on a new layout. Organizers said the
project included adding fresh dirt, improved obstacles and a brand new track.
Organizers are also reporteldy looking for volunteers to help with the project
over the next five days.

* Mountain Bike Suspension Innovator Mert Lawwill Passes Away At Age 85.
Boise, Idaho USA ( BRAIN ) -- 05/11/2026
Mountain Bike and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Mert Lawwill, an innovator of modern
bicycle suspension design with the four-bar system, passed away recently. He was 85.
Lawwill appeared in the 1971 Oscar-nominated motorcycle documentary On Any Sunday.
Lawwill helped develop one of the first production mountain bikes, the Pro Cruiser,
in 1977. His four-bar suspension design was adopted by leading brands including Yeti
Cycles and Schwinn. Lawwill also developed the Leader, a link suspension bicycle fork.

* REI Net Sales Slightly Increase In 2025 Union Representing 11 Stores.

REI Co-op announced Monday that net sales for 2025 increased slightly year-over-year,
same day the union representing 11 stores said its workers voted to boycott the chains
biggest sale of the year that begins May 15 after contract negotiations ended last week.

* 14th Annual Spokane Bike Swap Kicks Off Tomorrow.

The Spokane Bike Swap will make its return for the 14th year in a row, with bikes,
activities for kids and booths run by community organizations. Bike Swap Chair LeAnn
Yamamoto said the event is meant to provide a space for people to come together over
a shared interest. Giving back is also part of the mission for Spokane BMX, which
will have a booth at the event. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow.

The Lincoln Park BMX Track family is reaching out to support and assist one of their own,
Coach Tommy, seriously injured recently in a bike accident. Tommy Schroeder, aka Coach
Tommy, is a dedicated volunteer and the reason the Port Angeles-based nonprofit BMX race
team Send It Racing exists. Schroeder has volunteered countless hours building, maintaining
the track, coaching riders and leading by example by always riding alongside them.

For the Moses Lake BMX track, they are eager to build off the momentum of a successful

leagues, the Moses Lake BMX track has a lot planned this year. -- In April, the track will

04/12/2026:- Inside The Games:- Quote:- Russian BMX cycling champion Egor Yurevich Toyanov
was suspended for using meldonium. -- The Russian agency also announced a three-year ban for 27
year-old Russian BMX national champion Egor Yurevich Toyanov, after meldonium was found in
his anti-doping test. The ban will keep him out of official competition until September 2028.

Toyanov declared his innocence on social media, suggesting possible accidental contamination.
I did not knowingly consume this substance and cannot explain how it entered my system. I suspect
it may have come from a dietary supplement, given the suspiciously low concentration detected
in the sample, he said. Meldonium artificially increases physical endurance, accelerates muscle
recovery under hypoxic or maximal exertion conditions, and enhances athletic performance. It
was banned several years ago. Although meldonium is available on the market, it is prohibited
in elite sport due to its performance-enhancing effects. ( * More )

* Man Scaled 200-Foot Wenatchee Bridge To Tie BMX Bicycle To American Flag.
Wenatchee, Washington USA ( Source One News ) -- 03/24/2026
An adult male climbed to the top of the Senator George Sellar Bridge on Tuesday
afternoon, carrying a bicycle with him before tying it to the structures large American
flag and descending in rainy conditions, according to authorities. The incident began
at approximately 1:26 p.m., prompting a response from local law enforcement and
transportation officials. The man reportedly scaled the bridge by walking up its outer
frame while holding the bicycle, reaching the top where the flag is mounted.

Life Electric Vehicles completed the court-approved acquisition of Rad Power
Bikes, the Florida-based e-mobility company said Thursday. Based in Deerfield
Beach, Life EV agreed in December to acquire Rad Powers assets for $13,276,102

Amazon and UL are suing five e-bike and e-scooter companies, alleging they improperly
labeled products with UL trademarks. The retailer and the testing company filed suit
