* Kids, Adults Compete In Umpqua Valley BMX State Qualifier.
Dillard - Roseburg, Oregon USA -- 07/11/2024
The Gold Cup/State Qualifier hosted by Umpqua Valley BMX attracted 205 riders and
49 motos on June 22. Umpqua Valley BMX (bicycle motocross) is a non-profit track run
by local volunteers. The track is located at 140 Hult Ave. Practice is held from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. on Wednesdays, with racing on Sundays. All ages are welcome.

* Lincoln Park BMX Leads The Way In Fundraising.
Port Angeles, Washington USA ( Peninsula Daily ) -- 07/01/2024
The Lincoln Park BMX Track has three out of the top six fundraisers in the United States for
the Race for Life top earners. USA BMX and BMX Canada are among the top fundraisers for
the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Each year, riders raise funds for this cause, which began
in 1981 to help 12-year-old BMX rider Todd Kingsbury after he was diagnosed with leukemia.
Kingsbury died in 1981, but the Race for Life series carries on in his honor.

* Classic Cars Alongside BMX Bikes Car And Bike Show In Chehalis.
Centralia, Washington USA ( The Chronicle ) -- 06/26/2024
Gearheads flocked to the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis Saturday, June 21, for the
first Lewis County Autism Coalition (LCAC) Car and BMX show. The event was organized in
partnership with Centralias Cornerstone Center for Development. Nearly 150 cars were
registered for the show, along with close to 250 BMX bikes, with all proceeds going toward
the LCAC. Along with the cars and bikes, the show included food trucks and vendors, live
music and raffles, including a free raffle for kids to win a restored 1980s Schwinn BMX bike.

* This Modest Motocross Cyclist Has Brought The World Championship To Kingston.

BMX racing is a sport that calls for hard pedaling, high speeds and mental toughness.
And in May 2024, the very best showed up in Rock Hill, South Carolina for the UCI
BMX World Championships. At the speeds theyre going, its definitely a higher risk
sport the older they get, said Dave Christensen whose 12-year-old son Wyatt is a taller,
longer haired version of the 6-year-old we met in 2018. Thats when the then First grade
students won the 6 and Under National Championship.

Park reopens Friday after two months of renovations. If youre eager to be one of the first to try out
the new course youre invited to join the city at the ribbon cutting tonight at 4 oclock.

* Bend BMX To Hold Annual State Qualifying Race.
Bend, Oregon USA -- 06/06/2024
The Bend BMX Association, a local organization run by a dedicated team of volunteers with the aim
of providing a positive and safe place for kids to race BMX in the Bend community and all of Central
Oregon, announces it will host the state qualifier race at Big Sky Park on June 8, 2024. The race,
which is free for spectators, will draw hundreds of families from around the state to compete with local
riders. Each track in Oregon hosts a state qualifier leading up to a state championship in September.

* Lincoln Park BMX Clinic Hosted By Olympian Nyhaug.
Port Angeles, Washington USA ( Peninsula Daily News ) -- 05/27/2024
Canadian BMX Olympic champion Tory Nyhaug will be giving a clinic at the Lincoln Park
BMX track on June 21 and 22. Because of the school year being extended, times will be
later than originally scheduled. On June 21, the clinic will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
for expert riders and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for novice and intermediate riders.

* BMX Clinics By Oregon Elite Pro And Much More At Lincoln Park.
Port Angeles, Washington USA ( Peninsula Daily News ) -- 05/06/2024
More than 100 riders came out and enjoyed the Lincoln Park BMX track Sunday as the track also
hosted boys and girls clinics put on by BMX elite champion rider Olivia Armstrong from Bend, Ore.
A total of 106 riders in 26 motos raced after the clinics. Lincoln Park BMX is hosting a variety of
events all spring and summer.

* Car Stolen From Fife Costco Parking Lot With $10k Worth Of BMX Bikes Inside.
Fife, Washington USA ( Fox 13 Seattle ) -- 05/01/2024
A Kitsap County family is asking for the publics help after their prized BMX bikes were taken when
someone stole their car in a Fife Costco parking lot at the end of April. Luckily, we were able to
recover the car a few hours later, said mom, Morgan McCluskey. Unfortunately, my daughters bikes
were not there. We think they looked in the back and realized they hit a gold mine. The BMX bikes
are child-size and worth about $10,000. The family says other items were also taken, including their
girls helmets, all their gear, a Subaru pressure washer, a Dyson hair straightener. - * Fox 13 Video.

* Spokane Bike Swap Returns To Fairgrounds This Weekend.
Spokane, Washington USA -- 04/17/2024
Cycling enthusiasts, weekend trail riders and toddlers on tricycles will have the chance to swap their
used equipment for something new to them this weekend at the 12th annual Spokane Bike Swap and Expo.
Spokane Countys premiere cycling bonanza will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spokane
County Fair & Expo Center. Hundreds of new and used bikes will be available for purchase, alongside
more than 40 vendors offering helmets, wheels, jerseys and other gear and accessories. New to the event
this year will be a BMX show from Spokanes Matt The Teach Orlob, a former flatland freestyle professional
rider. BMX Spokane will also be in attendance and will provide demonstrations of their practice gates
throughout the day in the education and entertainment area, swap organizer LeAnn Yamamoto said.

* Moses Lake BMX Heads Into 2024 Season.
Moses Lake, Washington USA -- 04/11/2024
With the weather beginning to warm up, riders are returning to the Larson BMX Track for the 2024
season with Moses Lake BMX. Its awesome. Weve got a ton of momentum this year, and a lot of new
riders so far this year, Moses Lake BMX Track Operator Jeff Niehenke said. A really good board,
and a ton of energy to really grow the program and put on good events. Moses Lake BMX hosts weekly
races on Saturday mornings until mid-May when the races shift to Friday nights at 7 p.m. There are
also weekly practices held on Wednesdays, where riders can get a feel for the starting gate.

* Safety First! Underage E-bike Users A Growing Concern For Bend-La Pine Schools.
Bend, Oregon USA -- 04/10/2024
This week, Bend-La Pine Schools started enforcing new rules that ban students under 16 from using
e-bikes or e-scooters. The new rule aligns with Trentons Law in Oregon. Its named after Trenton
Burger, a Bend teen who was killed while riding an e-bike last summer. Even with the new law, Bend
-La Pine schools have seen a growing number in underage riders. There have also been multiple reports
of collisions, including an accident just outside of Pacific Crest Middle School. Kids just around on
e-bikes, on sidewalks, going through intersections, not obeying traffic laws.

* Cottage Grove Group Making Progress On New BMX Track.
Cottage Grove, Oregon USA ( KEZI 9 News )-- 03/05/2024
A local group is making progress on installing a new BMX track in Cottage Grove for bicyclists
of all ages to enjoy. Cottage Grove-based Slabtown BMX said a new track is coming soon to the
community. The group said the next-closest BMX track is in Eugene. However, they need about
140,000 cubic yards of dirt for the new track before they eventually add asphalt.

traveling to France to compete in the 2022 World Championships to a new adventure, college.
Samhammer has competed competitively since she was five years old, traveling around the world.
Along with singing to compete at the collegiate level, she recently has qualified for the 2024
UCI BMX World Championships in South Carolina.

* Racer And Industry Innovator Tim Rutledge Dies.

Tim Rutledge, a longtime industry product manager and legendary cyclocross and road racer,
died Monday after a battle with cancer. Friends and family confirmed his passing to on Tuesday.
He was 65. Tim was a friend and inspiration to many people across the sport and the industry.

* BMX: Port Angeles Elofson-Cross Qualifies For Second UCI World Championship Event.

Port Angeles 11-year-old Teyah Elofson-Cross traveled across the country this past weekend to
qualify for the UCI World BMX Championship in May. Elofson-Cross raced at the Blue Ridge
National in world qualifiers. The UCI World BMX Championships will be held in Rock Hill, S.C.

* BMX: Five Lincoln Park Riders Headed To World Championships.
Port Angeles, Washington USA ( Peninsula Daily News )-- 01/30/2024
The Lincoln Park BMX track based out of Port Angeles has five riders, two from Port Angeles and
three from Kingston, who qualified for six Team USA spots to compete at the UCI World BMX
Championships in Rock Hill, S.C., in May.

* Bus Crashes Through Skate Park Near Central District Causing Chaos.
Seattle, Washington USA ( Kiro 7 News )-- 01/25/2024
A Metro bus crashed through an indoor skate park near Seattles Seattles Central District Wednesday
night, causing chaos as dozens of students skated inside. The building at the corner of South Jackson
Street and 16th Avenue South is rented by the nonprofit Skate Like a Girl Seattle Chapter. At least
30 people, mostly middle school to college aged students, were inside during the crash that happened
just before 6 p.m. Luckily, no one was hurt.

* Report: REI To Lay Off 357 Employees At Headquarters.
Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN )-- 01/25/2024
The Seattle Times is reporting that REI is laying off 357 employees as the cooperative braces
for a challenging year. The newspaper said REI CEO Eric Artz told employees the news on Thursday.
According to the paper, layoffs will affect 200 headquarters employees, six from sales and customer
support, 30 from teams that support classes and multiday trips, and 121 in distribution centers.

* Made Handmade Bike Show Expands With Australia Event.
Portland, Oregon USA ( BRAIN )-- 01/16/2024
The MADE handmade bike show, which held its first show last year in Portland, will add a second
this June in Australia. The Made Australia show will be June 28-29 at the Darebin International
Sports Centre in Thornbury, Victoria, near Melbourne. The second MADE show in Portland will be
held Aug. 23-25. Consumer tickets will be available later this spring at made-bike.echoscomm.com.
